When life gives you lemons...don’t just make lemonade make a glorious scene at a lemonade stand. -Elizabeth Gilbert
After posting last week about the 10 Simple Things I do to Amplify My Health & Happiness I received a few questions about the specifics of drinking lemon water.
A tall glass of lemon water upon waking will help hydrate your body as well as cleanse your body. Speaking for myself I am perpetually dehydrated even if I drink my 64oz of water each day (which is a tough task to accomplish!) And since we live on planet earth we are bombarded by toxins 24-7.
Lemons are a powerful healing fruit that contain phenomenal antibiotic, antiseptic, and anti-cancer properties. Lemons are rich in vitamins C and B-complex and minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, silicon, copper, and potassium. They are considered to be a wonderful tonic and can help to cleanse and detoxify the entire body. Read full article >>>
How & Tips:
Upon waking 32 oz of filtered water with ½ lemon squeezed in
You can begin with 12 oz and work your way up (adjust the amount of lemon juice)
I don't buy whole organic lemons I buy Lakewood organic pure lemon it is much more economical and just plain easier
You can make make this up the night before and keep it on your bed stand
I prefer mine a little warm as cool/cold water first thing in my empty belly doesn't settle well so I make it in the morning and warm the water up a little
Due to the acidic nature of lemon juice I (and your dentist will agree) drink this using a stainless steel straw (easily obtained online or at your local health food store). Avoid putting it in any plastic container as well.
Wait 20 minutes or more before eating or drinking
You can also add a second 32 oz glass of lemon water in the afternoon
Your lemon water can count as your daily water intake
I wouldn't suggest pounding it down in one big gulp but sip quickly over 20 minutes or less...that way you can be ready to eat breakfast
