Cheryl Hunt, MS, APRN, FNP-BC
Cheryl Hunt has been a nurse practitioner with the Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) in White River Junction, VT, since 2007. Her VAMC experience includes primary care of veterans and chronic disease management. She has worked collaboratively with other disciplines within the VA system. She previously served as enrollment coordinator for the Managing Overweight and Obese Veterans Everywhere! (MOVE!) program.
Presently, Cheryl is part of the multidisciplinary pain management team at the VAMC with a focus on Chronic Opioid Treatment (COT). Cheryl was responsible for the development and implementation of the White River Junction VAMC COT Clinic. She works collaboratively with her colleagues from other disciplines to improve pain management and patient safety outcomes, by reducing opioid utilization and treatment costs. She provides opioid medication education to COT veterans and is also a facilitator in the Pain 101 education group- Resources for a Better Life.
She has worked as a clinical nursing instructor for Colby Sawyer College, White Mountains Community College and Plymouth State University. She has held additional appointments as an adjunct instructor at White Mountains Community College and Massachusetts General Hospital-Institute of Health Professions, partnership for graduate nursing education.
Cheryl is a proponent of complimentary and integrative medical practices. She has been trained in hypnosis, guided imagery, Reiki, battlefield acupuncture (BFA) and most recently, iRest-Yoga Nidra. She developed The Phoenix Wellness Renewal LLC in 2012 and offers health coaching, hypnosis, guided imagery and Reiki. She endorses a, “whole health,” approach to wellness: mind, body and spirit.
